Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
Churches of Christ in Queensland is constructing a new disability housing development, in partnership with the Queensland Government. This uniquely designed accommodation is purpose built for elderly parents caring for a family member with a disability or independent adults living with a disability. The development forms part of the Elderly Parent Carer Innovation Initiative from the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors.
The development offers independent living in a fully accessible and secure living environment with modern design features:
- two bedroom property with a dual key one bedroom adjoining studio apartment
- separate one-bedroom apartment
- private enclosed patio gardens
- onsite parking for up to three vehicles.
These modern, flexible and discrete living environments incorporate a high level of physical access provision for people with significant physical impairment and achieves platinum level certification under the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines.
Accessibility features include: private, wheelchair accessible outdoor patio/garden areas;
adjustable bathroom vanities and kitchen sinks; power supply to doors and windows (blinds) for automation retrofit if required.
The development is centrally located and close to transport, shops and community facilities. Nearby support services may be available.
